Bear Creek
Concerts 2009
Presents a
Season of
Musical Masters!
|
|
Listen
up, music lovers! I'm in charge this season (my pups will do
whatever I tell them to, so don't even think about kenneling me).
I've been eating your food and drinking your wine for years,
but none of you have ever asked ME what I want in a Bear Creek
Concert season. Besides a little prime rib and a nice cab, how
about some musicians as legendary as I am? And why don't you
people go to the dogs? ...o.k. the cats, too... and...
oh whatever... I'll share with any animal who needs it. Just
fill up the barrel with pet supplies this season.
So here's
the musical line-up...
Me and my
posse will see you on March 21, 2009
(save us
a rib bone and some cookies, o.k.?)

March 21
Bob Sima

We'll kick off our
amazing season with
New Folk
Finalist and Wildflower Song-
writing winner Bob
Sima.
Infectiously
upbeat, with a voice
as rich as wild honey,
the joy is
all yours as
his rhythmic warmth
and sweet, sweet
music fill up the
night.

Rescheduled!! Oct. 3
Abra Moore

Abra came onto the musical landscape as a member of
that perennial favorite, Poi Dog Pondering, but it was her 1997,
GRAMMY nominated solo release, "Strangest Places" that propelled her
into the national spotlight. And for good reason, her breathy,
slightly edgy and wholly individual voice is a national treasure...
an American master! |
May 16
Dorian Michael

Whether it's finger-style, slide, or down home
and hot blues licks, this is a man whose guitar is like a part of
his body. He interacts with it like an old friend, and he
treats the audience that way too. It's a smooth easy style
that will make you feel more at home on the porch than you ever
have. If you appreciate top level playing, and you like a man
with a sharp wit, you put this one down as an all time favorite.

June 20
Smythe
& Taylor

This Texas duo is a Fayette
County favorite, having made many trips to our part of the universe,
but never from the porch! So it's about time, y'all.
Along with some serious feel good vibes, TC Smythe's memorable
vocals and Gary Taylors top shelf playing are WHY they're a
favorite. |
July 18
Jean Synodinos

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.
That's what we're sayin'. This siren took the top honors at
New Folk before most contemporary indies ever plucked a
serious chord. She's got it all. Big, bad, sexy voice, and
monster guitar chops. Jean is the total entertainer... and
that is WHY she's a master! |
August 15
Kenny Edwards

Master doesn't describe
Kenny Edwards. Legend of the American Folk Rock movement is
more appropriate. Along with Linda Ronstadt, Kenny is founder
of the 1965 folk rock group, Stone Poneys. When you conjure up
Ms. Ronstadt's signature sound, it's Edwards who's doing the
signing. If for no other reason, come out and say, "Thank you,
Mr. Edwards," for helping pioneer the music we so love. |

September
19
Beth Wood

This barefoot beauty
exudes
joy, charm, and a West
Texas free spirited presence
that will send you into eternal
happiness. Her down-home
folk-country-rock are founded
in a southern gospel voice
that made her an instant
favorite not only in Kerrville,
but nationwide. Get ready
to fall in love...

October 17
Michael Fracasso

Longtime Austin favorite,
Michael Fracasso will send off the 2009 season from the porch with
his master songwriting and a memorable tenor that conjures up
memories of the golden boys of the 1950's and early 1960's.
Whether you're a boomer, X-er or MySpace denizen, come out and
experience one of the very reasons Austin, Texas is a world-wide
musical institution. |

Since April
of 2001, Bear Creek Concerts has presented independent musicians
from the porch of the Bear Creek Cabin. Some you may have
heard of . Many will be a delightful discovery. All
are as good (if not better than) as anyone you'll hear on the
radio. While you experience the music, you'll become a part
of the Peace from the Porch project where we provide basic tools
for human success through musicians who help us support peace on
the home front. In 2009, we'll give you a few exercises in
compassion... indeed it is a tool the human race must have to be
successful. We'll work with various foundations and
non-profits that take care of unwanted animals by collecting food
and supplies for area shelters and rescue organizations, hosting
musical fundraising events, and maybe... Peace from the Porch,
Vol. 3!
Bring one or more of the following:
Purina Kitten Chow
Purina Puppy Chow
Milkbone Dog Biscuits (unflavored)
(any size is
o.k.)
